Intake Heat Shield Maintenance

The heat shield that protects my aftermarket intake filter was looking pretty shabby, so I decided to fix it up a bit.

The filter is already off in this picture, but you can see how the sheild is positioned between it and the headers. Their proximity is pretty aweful packaging, but the stock filter draws air from the headlamp area, which is much better.

This is the header-facing side. I guess a previous owner wrapped the stock (?) metal heat shield with a scrap of HVAC insulation or the like.

Well the insulation itself isn’t in terrible shape so I reused it.

You’d think I would have taken a picture of the shield BEFORE I put reinstalled it, but you would be wrong.

Here’s a close-up of the shiny new HIGH-TEMP tape. It looks and feels like aluminum tape, which it may be.

Hopefully this will last for a while–at least until I change over to ITBs 😀 (crosses fingers)
